History of the Department of Physics

The Departments of Mathematics and Physics were originally established in 2013 (1392 AH) under the authority of the Ministry of Higher Education, within the Faculty of Education. In 2017 (1396 AH), in response to evolving academic needs and following the Ministry’s scientific reforms, the Departments of Mathematics and Physics were formally separated, and the educational system was transitioned from the traditional (classical) model to a standardized credit-based curriculum.

Currently, the Department of Physics functions as a recognized academic unit within the Faculty of Education, providing undergraduate programs aimed at training and developing specialized professionals in the field of physics. Graduates of the department not only serve as professional educators in the Ministry of Education’s institutions but are also equipped to contribute effectively to other governmental ministries, public institutions, and scientific research centers.

The primary goal of the Department of Physics is to educate and train professional and specialized personnel according to high academic and scientific standards, ensuring that they can play a constructive role in the development of the national education system, the advancement of scientific research, and in addressing the country’s educational, scientific, and societal needs.
